振明《楞严新粹》p55-76 - 心得报告

Shurangama Sutra Session 5

1. Everything is mind made. Because of our ignorance and wrong understanding about the truth / true buddha nature. This leads to my greed, hatred and delusion with the wrong understanding of existence of a self that I hold so strong to it.

2.Similar to the perception of material value that we see as expensive or cheap. All these depends on our experience, exposure and capability. For example, a wealthy man says a million dollar house is cheap whereas an normal person says it is expensive. In the olden days of barter system, the value of a packet of paddy is easy to get by a paddy farmer vs a cattle owner and vice versa.

3.Life value is anther perception we were exposed and taught since young. All these are mind made programmed to us. The truth taught by Sakyamuni Buddha on impermanence, no-self, nirvana, 4 noble truth and noble eightfold paths are the truth in nature that will not change over time or and where. The key is how do I apply all these in my daily life to function correctly is the challenge.

4.When emotionally charged and got entangled with the look of things cause me cannot see the truth and how the underlying working principles of things. Hence, I need to start to look at pattern and draw conclusions in how things works by understanding the underlying working principles then I would be able to see things clearly an not confuse by the looks and situations. For example money is just a tool for the value exchange and to evaluate the value of things. I need to understand the raw material cost and manufacturing cost which give a clear picture of how much an item really cost. The price difference will be the profit, rental, logistics etc cost. A glass of coke may cost only 10 cents which consist of the water, sugar and syrup. The other costs will be the packaging, logistic etc. The same coke may cost RM2 in a coffee shop but RM20 in a pub. Understanding how the society works may allow me to see things and situation clearer.
